Gameplay
The basic gameplay in Angry Birds Star Wars is still the same as the original Angry Birds. You launch birds from a catapult at a structure in order to smash it and destroy the bad guys. Stars are earned based on how easily you achieve this, and progress to the next level.
There are some 80 levels in Angry Birds Star Wars and getting through them will take you a long time, even though the first few levels on Tatooine are very easy. There are some fun bonus levels too, in which you can play as C3PO or R2D2.
The gameplay in Angry Birds Star Wars has been tweaked a bit from previous versions of the game. You can now use the force to slow down your bird in mid flight, or swipe your light saber to break objects, for example.
Verdict
Despite these interesting additional gameplay elements, there's no disguising that Angry Birds Star Wars plays very much the same as previous versions. While fans of the Angry Birds franchise will enjoy this, others will find the game repetitive, frustrating and tiresome.

Clicking Control Panel opened a small, rectangular, tabbed box giving quick access to Audio, Colors, Caption, and Playback settings. The Audio settings include the optional equalizer, which itself offers an extensive menu of preset audio schemes. Likewise the color sliders made quick adjustments a snap. Things got even more detailed when we opened the Preferences sheet, which includes device configuration, network settings, and other advanced options.

ClamWin Antivirus is a free antivirus solution for Windows PCs. This open-source freeware integrates with Windows Explorer and Microsoft Outlook, schedules scans, and automatically updates virus definitions. It offers good, basic protection without the bells and whistles of premium antivirus packages.
ClamWin's installer let us choose to integrate the program with Explorer and install the Outlook module, both of which we selected. Right-clicking the program's system-tray icon let us configure and update ClamWin as well as schedule scans, display reports, manually check for updates, and attend to other matters. The program's main interface is utterly basic but efficient, with a simple tree view for selecting directories to scan. We selected our C drive, and ClamWin performed a thorough scan, turning up a variety of potential issues for us to review, some of which weren't problems but were worth verifying anyway. However, it did turn up a suspected Trojan horse. While it probably wasn't dangerous since we knew its source, we opted to remove it anyway. We could set ClamWin to report findings for manual cleaning, delete suspected files as they're found, or quarantine them. When we opened Outlook, ClamWin opened with it, and it showed up on Outlook's Add-In ribbon; Outlook worked normally under ClamWin's protection, too.
Good protection is cheap at half the price, and antivirus software is certainly one aspect of PC ownership you shouldn't scrimp on

jetaudio basic

JetAudio is the software component of Cowon's media players and devices. It's available as a free media player for Windows under the name of JetAudio Basic. It's anything but basic, though. In addition to being a stylish and capable player that can handle most file types, JetAudio Basic includes audio and video converters, audio CD burning and ripping, sound recording, skins, Internet broadcasting via JetCast, and other fun and useful JetToys. New to JetAudio 8 is an integrated GUI with optional Media Center Interface.
When we first ran JetAudio, we clicked the Choose Windows Configuration option from the Cowon Media Center folder on the Start Menu. The first page asks how you want to use JetAudio, with main window, toolbar, and Media Center combinations optimized for music, video, or file management. We chose the default optionThe Media Center interface is more substantial than a typical player-playlist setup, more closely resembling an Explorer program than a media tool (and a refreshing change from another Media Center we won't mention). The top panel is JetAudio's media player; it's a good-looking unit, too, with a blue-glass look and a spectral display. In the default view, the sidebar tree view doesn't navigate Explorer but the Media Center's features. But we could open My Computer and Portable Devices from controls next to the player interface. Many users may opt just to use the slender, optional toolbar, which autofits to the top or bottom of the screen and can be dragged around the desktop. We ran the configuration tool again and tried this and other interface options; each has something to recommend it.

Daum Potplayer: It's probably not what you're thinking, whatever that is. It is, in fact, a free video player. We hear you say, "There are so many free video players; what sets this one apart?" Its built-in codecs handle most video formats, and you don't have to install them yourself. It has several levels of controls and settings, making the most useful commands easily accessible. It's attractive but also skinnable and customizable. It supports a variety of video devices, including capture devices like cameras, DVD and digital recorders, and both analog and digital TV, including channels.
Potplayer opened with its Playlist window displayed, but we could toggle it open and closed from the interface. This player has a full suite of familiar controls and counters on its interface, including full screen, repeat, shuffle, and volume, but you can also access filter and rendering settings, speaker options, and other settings from the main window. Right-clicking the interface or the program's system tray icon accesses an extensive main menu.

SMplayer

On the video-player spectrum, SMPlayer is somewhere between the full-bodied Miro and the super-lightweight VLC Player. The freeware player, intended to be a front-end for MPlayer, supports an impressive list of features and options.
The list of supported formats encompasses both major audio and video codecs and does a good job of trying to differentiate itself from the competition. One of the best features is that the player will remember your settings per video, so if you quit the app in the middle of playing, it'll restart it with the exact same settings as before. Subtitles are fully customizable, including color, font, and size, and it can stream in content from the Internet. The app also works on both Windows and Linux, and it's supported in more than 20 languages. There's also a karaoke filter, so you can remove the audio track.
As you might expect, the install file is quite large at 17MB, and it takes up a fair bit of RAM. We experienced no stability issues with the program, so we're quite comfortable in recommending it as a strong secondary player or even a primary, if one of its more esoteric features is just what you need.

Progress in the game is measured with Chaos, which is earned by completing missions, destroying government property, collecting items for the factions and reaching 100% completion in settlements and military bases. Chaos unlocks new agency missions and stronghold takeovers. Chaos and stronghold takeovers expand the factions' area of influence, which unlocks faction missions and race challenges.
The artificial intelligence uses a planning system which enables enemies to perform various actions. Enemies can use the environment to their advantage, taking cover behind objects and adapting to the objects around them. Additional elements include vertical gameplay using a grappling hook and parachuting maneuvers and also manual aiming system.
There is also a real-time deformation system and individual components can come loose from vehicles.
Initially, the player must acquire weapons and vehicles in the field. Early in the game, the player encounters a black market supplier, from whom weapons and vehicles can be purchased, with an option to have them delivered to the player's location via helicopter. As more Chaos is gained, additional weapons, vehicles, and the extraction option become available on the black market. All weapons and vehicles on the black market have parameters that can be upgraded in several steps, by building upgrades with weapon and vehicle components found within the game world. There are over 2,000 parts that the player can acquire.^[6]
Notable features of Just Cause 2 include the grappling hook, which gives players the ability to tether objects to each other. For example, in a high speed vehicle chase, the player can use the grappling hook to attach a pursuing vehicle to the ground, forcing it to stop and often flipping or turning the vehicle causing damage to it. The grappling hook also allows the player to pull himself, and hold onto objects such as walls or helicopters.
In addition, the player has a parachute which is always ready to be deployed, even if it has been deployed and discarded only moments before. This can be combined with the grappling hook and used as a fast method of transport.

Last year's improved, zippy install has been changed slightly, and that may cause problems for some people.
Getting into Avira has never been easier, and it still has a two-click install. The company says that it developed the two-click installation as part of its "less is more" strategy, where it offers the same level of protection as before without the hassle. Of course, that's a tacit acknowledgement of prior problems.
Anyway, the install is the simplest of the major free security suites. The two-click process will autodetect competing security components and remove them, so be warned if you think you're going to be more secure by running two overlapping AVs. Avira won't let you.
However, this is so aggressive that sometimes the program won't install properly. A conflict between Avira and a security suite previously installed on our test computer that left half a dozen registry keys behind caused the computer to crash and resulted in a "blue screen of death" on an otherwise stable computer. At the end of the day, whether it's the fault of Avira or the previous security suite is irrelevant. Nobody wants to be faced with a BSOD when installing a program, and most people will blame the new software.

We like our computer desktop like we like our actual, physical desktop: tidy, well-organized, and nice to look at. As such, we don't have a lot of patience for desktop enhancements that mess with the familiar look and feel of our virtual workspace; as far as we're concerned, things are fine the way they are. These types of programs keep coming, though, and we keep trying them out, hoping against all odds for one that really will enhance our desktop. Unfortunately, Real Desktop Standard is not the one. It's innovative and has some interesting features, but once the novelty wore off, there wasn't much about it that we really liked.
The easiest way to explain Real Desktop Standard is to compare it with a three-dimensional room in which all your desktop icons are laid out on the floor. The "walls" of the room contain links to the publisher's Web site and online tutorial videos, though we couldn't get them to load. The user's perspective of the room can be shifted using the camera feature. The graphics aren't of particularly high quality, and our icons appeared pixelated and somewhat washed out. In many ways, the program features like a normal desktop, letting users move files around, place them in the Recycle Bin, and so on. But we weren't crazy about the fact that folder names were invisible unless we moused over them; if there was a setting to change that, we didn't come across it. A so-called mini tutorial provides menus for Control, Selection, File operation, and Changing the camera, although the User Manual button didn't seem to do anything. Overall, there was nothing blatantly wrong with Real Desktop Standard, but it didn't do much to impress us, either.

The look and layout of iTunes 10 is essentially identical to that of iTunes 9, with just a couple of noticeable differences. The first is that Apple has updated its logo for iTunes. Rather than the old-school music note-over-CD icon, you'll see a much more applike image. There's also been a slight change to the source menu that runs as a column down the left side. That said, they still offer quick access to your media library, the iTunes Store, Genius features, and playlists. Once a selection is chosen in the source menu, all the relevant content spills out into the large main window, where it can be organized and sorted using an arsenal of sophisticated, spreadsheet-like options or switched into a Cover Flow view that hearkens back to the days of flipping through record crates.
